More support needed for Dales woodland project

We have begun to receive donations from across the UK, and from as far away as Australia and parts of Europe, in support of the campaign to protect the Yorkshire Dales threatened native woodland.

If the fundraising appeal is successful the Trust will work with landowners, farmers and conservation organisations to achieve the maximum results. The work will be varied and range from protecting areas where grazing stock animals prevent the regeneration of trees to the purchase of existing ancient woodlands and the planting of new native trees.

Judith Stuttard, Project Development Officer explains “ Those who love the unique Dales landscape have begun to rally behind the project. In the first few weeks of the appeal we have received over £67,000 in donations. However, with a target of £200,000 we urge everyone to dig deep and give what they can. Every donation will make a real difference as our aim is to undertake £600,000 worth of work in the Dales. By matching public donations with existing grants and Trust funds it is hoped that every £1 donated to the public appeal will be turned into £3 being spent on the ground, offering excellent value for money.”

In support of the project, famous artist Ashley Jackson has produced an original commission, illustrating one of the Trust woods in Wharfedale. The Trust has produced limited edition prints of this beautiful painting to give to the first 500 people who donate £150 to the appeal. Many supporters are giving this attractive print as a unique Christmas gift to friends and family who love the Dales. Visit Supporting the Project for further information.

If you wish to support the Yorkshire Dales Landscape Project we will ensure donation money will be 'geared up' through the unique partnership agreements of this new project, to maximise the impact of your money in creating and protecting woodlands in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales.

Because of the unique partnerships agreements of the Yorkshire Dales Landscape Project in most cases, every £1.00 donated to the project will result in £3.00 being utilised to protect, plant and manage woodland.
