Nature's calendar

The UK Phenology Network - seeking to collate and store all UK data on Nature's Calendar

Join thousands of people aged from 5 to 85 in a network stretching from the Shetlands to the Scilly Isles who are recording Nature’s Calendar, looking for the first signs of autumn and spring. Every record entered into our online database helps to build our understanding of climate change and the effect it is having on our woods and our wildlife. It is easy to do, and fun, and helps you to really look at what is happening around you. Click here to visit the website.

The Woodland Trust has joined forces with the Centre for Ecology & Hydrology to  monitor variations in nature's events. The Trust believes climate change is the biggest single threat to our woodland heritage. Scientists have produced clear evidence that the start of autumn is being delayed whilst spring is beginning earlier and earlier. More records of nature's calendar are needed urgently to help study climate change and its effect on the environment.

An exciting website has been developed to help you find out more, enter your observations online and even compare them with historical records going all the way back to 1736
