Continuous Cover Forestry Group
The primary role of the Continuous Cover Forestry Group (CCFG) is to promote
the transformation of even-aged plantations to structurally, visually and
biologically diverse woodlands. We also aim to enhance the production of
high quality timber according to the principles of continuous cover
management. |

Friends of Ainslie and Larks Woods Ainslie Wood and Larks
Wood are situated in Chingford, London, E.4. in the London Borough of
Waltham Forest. Larks Wood is the larger of the two woods. It covers two
adjacent hills and there are some clearly defined paths.
The Friends Group was formed in December 2004 and meets every second Sunday
of the month at 11.00 a.m. at Larkswood Recreation Ground |

TWIG
Based in the Village of Tillingham in Essex, this group of local enthusiasts
and their supporters, TWIGS, are working to tackle the lost environment of
the Dengie. Thousands of full grown trees have been destroyed during the
past 100 years, many by the hand of man. We are trying to actively restore
many of the trees and hedgerows to the area. Sadly healthy trees are still
being felled..... |

Bodgers Home
The Bodger's Home is dedicated to spreading knowledge about pole lathe
turning and greenwood working. The purpose of this, the official APT web
site is to promote green woodworking and all its associated crafts so that
once again the woodlands of the world are nurtured and valued as a source of

of Holly Hayes Wood
Friends of Holly Hayes Wood is a Community Group comprising of local
residents, who aim to set-up a social enterprise to maintain and improve
Holly Hayes Wood, Coalville Meadows and Forest Rock Wood so that our
children and even our childrens children can enjoy the woodlands, show their
children the bluebells in the spring and walk their dogs safely in our woods
for many years to come. |

generated by working with excluded, at risk or unemployed young people. |

Bredhurst Woodland Action Group
In May 2005, Bredhurst
Parish Council (BPC) formed a sub committee, The Bredhurst Woodland Action
Group (BWAG). The group’s objectives are to address the serious misuse of
600 acres of ancient woodland and surrounding chalk grassland from fly
tipping and off road vehicles and to preserve this woodland for future
generations.

of Queen's Wood
Queen's Wood is a wonderful local nature reserve situated in Muswell
Hill, between Muswell Hill Road, Onslow Gardens, Connaught Gardens, Queen's
Wood Road and Priory Gardens. There are several entrances to the wood, with
the nearest tube being Highgate on the Northern Line.
FQW is a voluntary group which was set up to help look after the wood and
its trees, plants, birds, animals, fungi and other forms of wildlife. We are
a very friendly group and are always delighted to welcome new members. |

Primrose Hill Community Woodland Trust
Set up to celebrate the millenium, the Primrose Hill Community
Woodland Trust is committed to preserving some of our local natural beauty.
The trusts primary project is to create a Woodland for the local community
on a 24 acre site situated above Weston Village with spectacular views of
Bath and the surrounding countryside.
The site has been converted from pastureland into a community woodland with
deer fencing, glades, picnic areas and wild flowers. |

St
Edwards Park Residents Group
This site was created to help residents of St Edward's Park to share
information. St Edward's Hospital was built here in 1898 and was
closed in the 1990's. Original houses on the site were joined a few years
ago by houses built by Redrow and Bryant. Leek Rugby Club and Teddy's Garden
Day Nursery are also based within St Edward's Park.

Lineover Wood Volunteer group
The new website from The Lineover Wood Volunteer Group. The site is
hosted by the CWN and are now available to all groups. The are easy to set
up and can be edited as required by you. It also makes it very simple for
new members to get in touch. Please do contact me if you would like to

The
River Colne Project
The River Colne Project is working to improve the river environment
in the Colne valley between Milnsbridge and Marsden, in the Pennine
foothills of Huddersfield. Volunteers work on a variety of projects and
habitats including woodland management. |

Friends of Errington Woods
The origins of Errington wood can be traced back to 1773 when the
Errington family first planted the hillside with trees as a cash crop.
Commercial management of the site continued until the end of the 1970's when
the Saltburn and Marske urban district council purchased the woodland from
Zetland estates. |

The Wychwood
Project
At Domesday in
1086, the royal forest of Wychwood covered much of what is now West
Oxfordshire, England. The term Forest referred historically to areas
where hunting rights were reserved for the Sovereign and in this area
would have included meadows, cultivated open fields, heaths and downs as
well as woodlands. |

The Ancient
Art of Coppice
Coppicing is the
art of cutting of trees and shrubs to ground level allowing vigorous
regrowth and a sustainable supply of timber for future generations.
Trees and shrubs that are cut down this way can produce shoots that grow
over 30cm in a week and a coppiced tree can live many times longer than
if the the tree had not been cut down at all. |

Bearsted
Woodland Trust
By February 2005
all 38 oak trees planted in the avenue has been adopted, with a further
10 applications for oaks arriving too late to be included. Three rowans
and 3 silver birch with individual plaques were planted in 2004 and a
similar number will be planted early in 2005. In addition, over 200
woodland trees were planted of which over 60% were adopted. The Plant a
Tree scheme had so far brought in around £12,500. |
