Walk in the Woods is a Tree
Council campaign sponsored by Center Parcs, to encourage everyone to enjoy
the magic of trees and woods.
Enjoy the magic of trees and woods this May – and see why Trees Matter
The Tree Council’s festival of walks, talks and other events takes place in
town and countryside throughout May. It’s a great month to go down to the
woods or enjoy the trees in a local park. Spring flowers, birdsong and fresh
green leaves make them particularly inviting.
It’s a time to go out for a quiet walk among trees with family and friends
or take part in Walk in the Woods events. These are organised by Tree
Council members, its Tree Wardens and other supporters and include:
- bluebell walks
- teddy bears’ picnics
- dawn choruses
- woodland open days
- tree trails around towns
- treasure hunts
- bat and badger watches
- games and story telling
Trees Matter- Enjoy Them
The Tree Council wants to make Trees Matter to everyone. So for those who
don’t often visit woods there’s a particularly warm invitation. Celebrate
the Tree Council’s 30th birthday by enjoying a Walk in the Woods this May
and discovering how much trees matter.
Trees and woods matter…
…because they are great for people of all ages to visit and enjoy.
They are:
- fun to walk, ride, cycle or play among
- good for getting closer to birds and other wildlife
- outdoor classrooms’ in which to find out about the environment
- affordable and environmentally-friendly settings for healthy walks —
being around trees is known to reduce stress and the risk of illness.
