Timotei and the Woodland Trust go wild together!

Children from Holywell Lower School in
Brogborough, Bedfordshire help out with the ‘Forests of Flowers’
seed-sowing project.

Twenty-five acres of the UK’s meadows will soon be a sea of
colour, thanks to haircare brand Timotei's support for the
Woodland Trust's ‘Forests of Flowers’ project.
The scheme has seen wildflower seeds such as poppies, blue
cornflowers, pink campion and white daisies being sown at three
sites in Bedfordshire, County Durham and in Fife in Scotland.
In Spring 2009, the flowers will bloom to create a stunning
scene, as well as attracting a variety of species such as red
admiral butterflies, lapwings, skylarks, grey partridges and
dragonflies. It also reduces the need for pesticides when tree
planting takes place at the sites, making the area healthier for
habitats and more environmentally friendly.
It’s all part of Timotei celebrating 25 years since the brand
was launched as the original nature-inspired haircare product.
The project has recently seen green-fingered youngsters helping
out with the sowing. School children from Brogborough in
Bedfordshire were taught sowing techniques and learnt about
planting and biodiversity in the real world, through practical
demonstrations.
James Butcher, from the Woodland Trust said “It's great to see
Timotei celebrating their 25th birthday by supporting the
Woodland Trust. The Forests of Flowers will grow and grow,
leaving a stunning, lasting legacy on the three sites.
Biodiversity will increase, and new habitats will move in.
Involving the children was a real bonus, helping them to
understand the importance of conservation and planting projects
in a more memorable and practical way than they'd get in the
classroom”.
